Accountability

We review the reviewers

Most gear recommendations come from people who were sent the gear. That is not automatically disqualifying — but you should be told, and almost nobody tells you. So every reviewer we cite gets graded against one published rubric, and the grade travels with the review.

How the score is built

Six signals, each measured from public metadata, each weighted by a fixed constant. No human judgement is applied to individual channels — the same inputs always produce the same grade.

Disclosure 25%
States plainly when a unit was gifted, paid for, or sponsored.
Methodology 25%
Measures and tests rather than unboxing and describing.
Independence 20%
Share of output that carries no commercial relationship.
Longevity 10%
Revisits gear months later instead of reviewing once at launch.
Consistency 10%
Publishes on a predictable cadence within a coherent subject.
Engagement 10%
Audience discussion is proportionate and substantive for the reach.

What this does not measure: whether the reviewer is right. A rigorous reviewer can still reach a conclusion we disagree with. The grade measures process and disclosure, not taste.
