- Can a mid-century desk work with a modern monitor arm?
- Only if the desktop is solid wood or a thick, well-supported panel. Clamp-mount arms concentrate load on the rear edge; on a thin veneered top or a floating-style desk with no apron, that edge is the first thing to fail. Check the thickness and the clamp range before buying.
- Is a vintage chair a reasonable choice for full-time work?
- Rarely. Chairs from that era were designed for shorter sitting periods and generally lack lumbar adjustment and modern tilt mechanisms. A better route is a contemporary ergonomic chair in leather or wool that reads period-appropriate.
