- Why does a home office sound bad on calls?
- Hard parallel surfaces — bare walls, a wooden floor, a glass desk — reflect sound back and forth, which a microphone picks up as a hollow echo. Soft furnishings absorb those reflections, which is why a rug and curtains usually do more for call quality than a better microphone.
- How warm should the light be for evening work?
- Below about 3000K reads as warm and comfortable in the evening. The trade-off is that warm, dim light in the morning does little to signal wakefulness, so a setup that works year-round usually needs either tuneable bulbs or two separate fixtures.
